GBG MLK 16U WINS THE P.G. MLK CHAMPIONSHIP!
It was a great weekend for GBG out in Arizona at the Perfect Game MLK Tournament which was held at the Dodger/White Sox Spring Training Facility in Glendale, AZ. Our MLK 16U Team went undefeated and took home the Championship! We started right out of the gates with two dominating pitching performances from Drake Pingel and Eli Morgan…pitching back to back no hit shut outs. Kyle Dean, Nyles Nygaard, Phillip Bernstein, Jagger Rusconi, Michael Hickman, and Brandon Perez combined had 34 hits to light up our offense. In our semi-final game, Max Green came up with a key triple to knock Bernstein in and to advance us to the final. Hickman was outstanding behind the dish for us. Our defense over-all was very solid. Pingel took the mound in our final game only giving up one run with a stifling pitching performance. Our 16U Team only gave up four runs the entire tournament. Outfielder Kyle Dean was named the MVP of the 16U Division.
GBG MLK 18U
Our 18U Team went 2-1-1 for the tournament and had a very respectable showing. Tyler Adkison hit really well including a 3 run bomb and finished the tournament with a .417 average. Ernie Sierra, Anthony Ayala, and Bobby Dalbec all had a great offensive showings. Elijah Skipps was our RBI machine throughout the weekend. Trevor Hall finished our tournament on the mound for us and absolutely dominated with 12 k’s in 5 innings. Calvin LeBrun and Kevin Lewallyn both pitched really well in our earlier games.
We couldn’t be more proud of our guys in this tournament. It was an entire team effort for both squads and every single player contributed. Thank you for being a part of it and thank you parents as well!
